Written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu, Dandadan is an upcoming Shonen anime series set to premiere on October 4, 2024. It is one of the most anticipated series from the Fall 2024 anime slot. The series follows the story of two schoolmates with different beliefs regarding the existence of two types of supernatural beings. However, they end up proving each other correct, trying to return their lives.
Produced by Science Saru, Dandadan perfectly blends the elements of comedy with the supernatural, neither dominates, creating perfect harmony. Moreover, Yamashiro Fuuga, the director behind the anime series, has enough experience in the anime industry as he was the assistant of some big names, such as Devilman: Crybaby. Nonetheless, if you are tired of watching the same old anime series with a repetitive plot, Dandadan is the perfect choice.
Is Dandadan a Supernatural? Genre explained
Yes, Dandadan is a supernatural series, and it is a theme of the anime, but do not make it your usual supernatural series like Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Ghoul, and other famous supernatural series. The action and comedy genres dominate and are expected to stay focused on the anime series for a perfect adaptation.
The series follows the usual high school premises, where the female protagonist, Momo Ayase, repents her life after getting rejected by her ex-boyfriend. While passing through the classroom, she encounters Ken Takakura getting bullied by his classmate.
After saving him out of annoyance, Ken opens up to her and explains how he knew about her interest in the occult. Later, he shows off his research on aliens and claims that he and Momo have the same interests. However, Momo is more interested in spirits than the aliens.
After fighting, they both make a bet to prove the existence of their occult creatures, and the loser has to pay the price. Ironically, after reaching the sire recommended by each other, Momo discovers the existence of aliens, and Ke discovers the existence of spirits. With the plot unfolding like a confession, what fate awaits the protagonists when they make a discovery?
Did Dandadan Manga End? Explained The Status
Dandadan is an upcoming supernatural comedy anime series written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu, based on the manga series of the same name. The manga series is ongoing and has sixteen volumes printed, with 165 chapters being the latest one, as of the article published. Even though this is the author’s only well-known work, his past ensures a bright future.
Yukinobu worked as an assistant for Tatsuki Fujimoto on his series Fire Punch and Yuji Kaku on his Hell Paradise. Due to his experience, his art style showcases some similarities to the former series, especially the art style of Hell’s Paradise. The anime adaptation was announced on November 27, 2023, and revealed its first promotional trailer on March 15, 2024.
Should You Watch The Anime?
As the series follows the action fight sequences, fans of anime series like Hell’s Paradise, Chainsaw Man, and Mob Psycho 100 would enjoy the series. For the rest of the anime fandom, it is advised to watch the first episode because it would most likely adapt the first few chapters of the series or at least part of it.
The first chapter of the manga series is what made it a fan favorite. If Science Saru delivers a proper plotline, along with beautiful animation and background music, the series could become the major hit of the Fall 2024 slot. The series will be released on October 4, 2024, and can be streamed online on Netflix.
