Science SARU, known for Fall 2024’s Dandadan, is all set to release its new anime movie, The Colors Within, in India.
Once a niche interest, the craze for anime has developed considerably worldwide throughout the years. India, in particular, has been slowly but steadily becoming more welcoming to the anime and manga culture. The release of The Colors Within (Kimi no Iro) is another example of that.
The new anime movie, animated by Science SARU and produced by TOHO and STORY, was released on August 30, 2024, in Japan, after its premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2024. Following its success, the film is about to be released in various countries, including India, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
In India, the movie is set to be released on November 22, 2024, by Warners Bros. Needless to say, Indian anime fans are overjoyed with this announcement. The Colors Within Plot
The Colors Within is an original story following a high school girl named Totsuko Higurashi who has synesthesia and can see the colors of people. She can see emotions through colors – be it joy, excitement, fear, or sorrow – the color she finds herself most enchanted with comes from a girl named Kimi.
Fascinated by Kimi’s colors, Totsuko follows her to a bookstore one day and ends up implying that she can play the piano. This leads to her forming a band with Kimi, a guitarist, and Rui, a quiet boy who plays the theremin. As the new band starts spending time together, a beautiful and tender bond begins to develop between them.
Cast and crew
A lot of people have been looking forward to The Colors Within for a long time and a huge reason behind that is its director – Naoko Yamada. She’s the director of critically acclaimed and widely beloved films like 2016’s The Silent Voice and 2018’s Liz and the Blue Bird. Yamada has also directed popular anime shows like K-On!! (2009-10) and Tamako Market (2013).
The main characters of the movie – Totsuko, Kimi, and Rui – are voiced by Sayu Suzukawa, Akari Takaishi, and Taisei Kido, respectively. All three are new voice actors.

Currently, the film has a 7.2 rating on IMDb and a 7.74 rating on MyAnimeList.
