As Kagurabachi approaches its first anniversary, creator Hokazono Takeru is celebrating the milestone in a grand fashion. The manga has announced a special fan art contest that gives readers a unique opportunity: the chance to create their own “Mob Sorcerer” character. The winning submission will be immortalized in the manga, featured in the intro page of an upcoming chapter where the character will ultimately be slain by the protagonist, Chihiro.
This contest serves as one of the major highlights of the anniversary celebrations, promising to engage the fan community in a fun and creative way. More specific details regarding submission guidelines and deadlines for the contest are expected to be released soon.
Anniversary Projects and Collaborations
In addition to the fan art contest, Kagurabachi is rolling out several other exciting projects. Notably, the series is teaming up with Girl Meets Rock!, a fellow manga that recently received accolades at the Tsugu ni Kuru Manga Awards 2024. The collaboration will feature a special illustration, further cementing the connection between these award-winning series.
Merchandise and Special Features
Fans can also look forward to a range of new Kagurabachi merchandise, including acrylic figures, stickers, and mascot characters. This fresh wave of merchandise will add to the celebration and provide fans with collectibles to commemorate the milestone.
Moreover, Kagurabachi is set to grace the cover of Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #40, hitting stands on September 2, 2024. This is a testament to the manga’s rising popularity, as it continues to gain recognition both in Japan and internationally.
Kagurabachi’s Meteoric Rise
Since its debut in September 2023 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, Kagurabachi has made significant waves in the manga world. The first tankobon volume, released in February 2024, quickly garnered a loyal following. By the time the third volume hit the shelves in July 2024, even renowned manga artist Masashi Kishimoto, creator of Naruto, publicly endorsed the series, further solidifying its status as one to watch.
Kagurabachi has been published in English via Viz Media and Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform, where it has attracted significant global attention. In fact, the English version of Chapter 1 claimed the top spot in global views on MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA within a week of its debut.
The series also received the prestigious title of best up-and-coming manga on Shueisha’s Manga Plus app, an honor bestowed by fans at Anime Expo 2024.
With the upcoming fan art contest, special collaborations, new merchandise, and continued accolades, Kagurabachi’s future looks brighter than ever as it embarks on its second year of serialization.
