Luffy’s Dream of Becoming the Pirate King Sounds Easy Compared to One Straw Hat Member’s Almost Impossible Dream

Dreams and ambitions hold importance in One Piece. Almost every character has a goal set in mind that defines their actions and the way they live. The perfect example of this theme is Monkey D. Luffy, the main character of the One Piece series. He wants to become the King of the Pirates, a title held only by a few previously. By being the Pirate King, he can enjoy the freedom he wants.

This is why he set on a journey to find the treasure of Gol D. Roger, One Piece and fulfil his dream. In fact, every Straw Hat has a specific goal they want to accomplish along with helping their Captain, as his dream needs more help and support. However, there is one Straw Hat whose dream feels more challenging than Luffy’s.

The Straw Hat we were talking about is Jinbe, a helmsman and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. He is one of the most beloved characters. Ever since he first appeared in the story, Jinbe always seemed to make the world a better place for his fisher-man brothers and sisters who always suffered from racism and slavery. But making the world a better place is not easy.

Racism And Slavery – The Real World Themes In One Piece

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, is renowned for addressing real-world issues in the series, which resonates with many fans. That’s why the series is so popular even after the decades. But the one that is most talked about in the series is the slavery and racism towards the fish-men.

Ever since the formation of One Piece, the fish-men have been treated differently from other races. They are often criticised and hated for their different looks and abilities. And have been mistreated to the point where they lost their composure and started rebelling which caused a stir in the Piece world. However, their problem is not so small. The conflicts have only fueled racism against fish-men.

Many characters in One Piece have tried to address this issue by forming positive relationships with each other, such as Fisher-Tiger. However, his attempt to end slavery and racism cost his life.

The humans’ animosity towards the fish-men in One Piece makes it impossible for peace talks or actions to succeed.

Jinbe’s Dream To End Racism And Slavery Seems Impossible

One Piece fandom is aware that Jinbe has personally experienced the harsh realities of racism and slavery in the series. Thankfully, he was rescued by his former captain, Fisher Tiger. After this experience, Jinbe decided to honour his former captain by working towards his dying wish of achieving coexistence and equality between humans and fish-men.

But if history is any indication, Jinbe’s dream would be almost impossible to achieve. The deep-rooted hatred towards the fish-men in One Piece has been ingrained for hundreds of years. Even if Jinbe takes years to promote peace between the two, he will not be able to eliminate these problems.

Furthermore, the Celestial Dragons have exploited these issues for their own gain, and they won’t easily allow peace to reign. Therefore, Jinbe has a challenging journey ahead in One Piece, filled with significant obstacles that will be hard to overcome.
