Is Angel Beats Bad? – What’s the Plot?

No, Angel Beats is not as bad as some say and it’s not overrated as well. The anime focuses on Yuzuru Otonashi, a young high school boy who is reincarnated with old memories. In his next birth, Otonashi has Amnesia and he’s unable to recollect his last. Otonashi meets Yuri Nakamura and joins the Afterlife Battlefront clan that is against the Angel, an associate of God.

The organization is called SSS and Yuzuru Otonashi is involved in their missions. When Angel gets demoted, Otonashi has a chance to retrieve his past, but there’s a twist as he becomes a friend of Angel who eventually helps him to find everything about his past. Otonashi finds Angel’s identity as Kanade Tachibana and makes her the student president council of the organization again. When Shadows start to attack the Afterlife residents, the entire gang joins together and fights against them. It’s also revealed the shadow entities will arrive when there’s a love in the afterlife world.

The story progresses with the characters graduating in a ceremony and the only remaining members are Otonashi and Kanade.  One day, Kanade thanks Otonashi when he confesses his love, and she leaves the afterlife. The last person in the afterlife is Otonashi, and he finds two characters similar to Otonashi and Kanade in the real world. In the end, Otonashi becomes the school president in the afterlife and continues to help souls and waits for Kanade.

Angel Beats! is an emotional tale between two characters and their relationship in the afterlife. The other students have impressed the viewers and the anime has become classic over the years. Angel Beats is a perfect romance anime with elements of fantasy, action, and emotions.
