Blue Box Episode 7 Review: How Kano and Taiki’s Dreams and Affection Align

The anime series Blue Box, streaming on Netflix, has garnered a huge fan following ever since it came out. The manga turned into an anime series that has a lighthearted romance between two teenagers navigating their lives through sports. With a sweet teen romance evolving between the two, the seventh episode gives a glimpse of their sprouting love.

In episode 7, titled “Can I Have One? We see that Kano is preparing for her matches to win the nationals, and Taiki is also preparing for his tournament. Taiki knows that Kano and his team have a game, so he roots for her. During the match, Kano makes a good three-pointer, and they win the match. Despite their impressive win, the team that they were defeated before making it to the nationals makes a derogatory comment about Kano’s game.

While Chi’s team is celebrating their win, they hear their rival team saying that Kano’s game hasn’t improved much and the team will lose again. Hearing this, Kano’s friend is about to react, but Kano stops her. She leaves them to say whatever they want and goes to her team. Taiki, who has been practicing with Haryu, sees Chi as a bit tense. On the way back home, they both walk together and chat about the game. Taiki takes Chi to a temple, where they both pray for each other’s game and wish they win the nationals.

The next day, Taiki hears Kano’s team talking about their rival team. He hears them say that the rival team thinks that Kano is still the same. Her game hasn’t improved yet. Hearing this, Taiki doesn’t believe this, though he sees in his own eyes that Kano has been practicing hard. Kano sees him eavesdropping, which Taiki is taken aback to see. He confronts her about the chat and says that she will defeat the team this time. To this, Kano smiles and says that this time she will show them how things are done. This makes Taiki see that Kano is quite competitive.

Haryuu is becoming tougher with Taiki, making him see that though in doubles they are partners, in singles he has an upper hand on him. Taiki practices way harder, also struggles, and has rivals to win over.  Making Haryuu know that he beat him, so he must take him seriously. Haryuu also struggles with and friends, rivals to defeat. Kyou, Taiki’s best friend tells him if he wins the nationals, he should Kano out on a date. Taiki daydreams to take her on a date and later they get married. They pass a convenience store where they are treated by their team member and coach.

They pick some fried chicken balls, and they see Hina and Chi there. Hina greets them and picks up a piece of Taiki’s food. As she leaves, Kano too asks Taiki if she can take a bite, and he agrees. She takes a bite and says that it made her jealous. Now Taiki is confused about whether she said that for a chicken snack or Hina talked to him. The episode ends.

What we can see is that the love triangle between Hina, Taiki, and Kano is taking a new turn. Kano is trying to give hints to Taiki, but he is a bit too shy.

Episode 8 Blue Box Preview: What to Expect?

In the upcoming episode, it is teased that Taiki loses both matches but Kano wins. She is about to play for the nationals. He is happy but also depressed because he couldn’t win. The next episode might revolve around this. Hian is also seen cheering him up. The next episode will air on November 21, 2024.
