Voice Actress Masumi Tazawa Joins Cast of “The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest” Anime

On Monday, the official website for the anime adaptation of Alto and Yuunagi’s light novel “The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest” (originally titled “Mikata ga Yowasugite Hojo Mahō ni Tesshiteita Kyūtei Mahōshi”) unveiled a third promotional image and announced a new voice cast addition. Masumi Tazawa has been cast to voice the character Clasia Annerose.

The previously revealed voice cast includes Shūichirō Umeda voicing protagonist Alec Yugret and Yurika Kubo as Yorha Eisentz.

The anime is scheduled to debut in October 2025.

Studio Gekkō is producing the series under the direction of Ken Takahashi, known for his work on “Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 3rei!!”, “Butlers x Battlers”, and “Ragna Crimson”. Masamune Hirata serves as co-director, while Kazuyuki Fudeyasu handles series composition. Character designs are by Yōko Satō with Nobuhide Hayashi as sub-character designer. The musical score is being created by Diosta inc. and High Speed Boy inc.

Additional production staff includes monster designers Yoshiki Kuga and Recommendation, art director Manabu Otsuzuki, 3D director Hisashi Akimoto, and sound director Nobuyuki Abe, among others.

The narrative follows Alec Yugret, a court magician specializing in support magic who assists the crown prince in dungeon exploration. After being dismissed by the prince for supposedly being “useless” due to his supportive rather than offensive magical abilities, the unemployed Alec receives an invitation from his former companion Yorha to return to dungeon adventures.

The original web novel was published on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō platform between October 2020 and September 2022. Kodansha released the first printed volume with Yuunagi’s illustrations in August 2021, with the fifth volume published in August 2024. A manga adaptation by Yuki Monji began serialization in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app in July 2021, with 15 compiled volumes released as of April 9. The English version is available through Kodansha’s K MANGA application.3
