The popular supernatural anime Toilet-bound Hanako-kun Season 2 has once again teased its upcoming comeback with a new trailer.
The anime’s return was a long time coming as fans have been eagerly waiting for it since the first season dropped. Their wait is about to be finally over as Toilet-bound Hanako-kun Season 2 is set to premiere on January 12, 2025, as a part of the Winter 2025 lineup.
Based on the manga of the same name by Iro Aida, the anime series first debuted in 2020 and ran for 12 episodes. Praised for its unique art style and fun premise, it quickly gained a large viewership. The first season is followed by a four-episode spin-off called ‘After-School Hanako-kun’ in 2023.
The upcoming sequel was first confirmed in November 2023 and released its first trailer in July 2024, followed by a new key visual in October. Now, with two months left for its premiere, it has released a new trailer, giving viewers a closer glimpse at what to expect. In the new trailer, Hanako can be seen facing the villains of the season.
Toilet-bound Hanako-kun Season 2 plot
Judging by the trailers and the key visual, Toilet-bound Hanako-kun Season 2 is adapting the Three Clock Keepers Arc and the Perfect Picture Arc of the manga.
The two storylines are respectively the eighth and eleventh arcs of the manga. The first season already adapted the ninth arc – The Hell of Mirrors Arc. This leaves out the tenth arc – Summer Lights Arc – from the queue.
The Three Clock Keepers Arc has Hanako, Nene, and Kou facing the first of the Seven Mysteries. As the students of the school start to get their time move unnaturally forward, the trio must stop the Clock Keepers to stop everyone from turning old. This arc also introduces two new characters – Mirai and Koko – and reveals an intriguing plot point about Nene’s lifespan.
While there are two different storylines between the Three Clock Keepers Arc and the Perfect Picture Arc, they are intricately connected as the story of the latter arc is a result of the former. In this arc, Nene and Kou are trapped inside a fictional world where Hanako and Mitsuba are human and attend classes with them. But the fiction is actually created by Mei Shijima, the Fourth Mystery.
