The Most Unforgettable Betrayals in Anime History | Animeking

Hey, anime fans! Do you love watching epic scenes of betrayal that make you question everything you thought you knew about the characters? I know I do! That’s why I decided to share with you my personal ranking of the top 5 ae betrayals of all time. These are the moments that shocked me, angered me, or made me cry. Let’s get started!

5) Annie Leonhardt’s revelation (Attack on Titan)

Attack on Titan is a show full of twists and turns, but none more so than when we found out that Annie, one of the most skilled and respected soldiers in the Survey Corps, was actually the Female Titan who had been wreaking havoc and killing countless people. I remember being so stunned by this reveal that I had to pause the episode and process what I just saw. Annie was such a cool and mysterious character, and I never suspected her of being a traitor. The fight between her and Eren was intense and emotional, and I felt sorry for both of them.

4) Griffith’s betrayal of the Band of the Hawk (Berserk)

Berserk is a dark and brutal series that doesn’t shy away from showing the horrors of war and human nature. The Band of the Hawk was a group of mercenaries who fought alongside Griffith, their charismatic and ambitious leader, who had a dream of becoming a king. They were loyal to him and considered him a friend, especially Guts, the main protagonist. However, everything changed when Griffith sacrificed them all to the God Hand, a group of demonic entities who granted him immense power in exchange for his humanity. He became Femto, a member of the God Hand, and raped Casca, Guts’ lover, in front of him. This was one of the most horrifying and heartbreaking scenes I’ve ever witnessed in anime, and it made me hate Griffith with a passion.

3) Rachel’s betrayal of Baam (Tower of God)

Tower of God is a webtoon that was adapted into an anime last year. It follows the story of Baam, a boy who enters a mysterious tower in search of Rachel, his only friend who disappeared. The tower is full of challenges and dangers, but also promises great rewards to those who reach the top. Rachel was Baam’s motivation and inspiration, but she turned out to be a selfish and manipulative person who used him for her own benefit. She pushed him off a platform during a test, seemingly killing him, and revealed that she never cared about him. She only wanted to climb the tower and see the stars. This was a huge shock to me, because I thought Rachel was a sweet and kind girl who loved Baam. She became one of my most hated characters after this.

2) Yutori’s reveal as the traitor (Tomodachi Game)

Tomodachi Game is a manga that I highly recommend to anyone who likes psychological thrillers and mind games. It’s about a group of friends who are forced to participate in a series of games that test their friendship and trust. They have to cooperate or betray each other to win money or pay off their debts. The games are designed by a mysterious organization that knows their secrets and weaknesses. One of them is Yutori, a cheerful and friendly girl who seems to be the glue that holds the group together. However, she is actually the traitor who works for the organization and manipulates her friends to make them suffer. She reveals her true nature in a shocking twist that left me speechless. She is one of the most cunning and ruthless villains I’ve ever seen in manga.

1) Reiner and Bertholdt’s betrayal (Attack on Titan)

Yes, another Attack on Titan entry, but this one deserves the top spot in my opinion. Reiner and Bertholdt were two of Eren’s comrades and friends who joined the Survey Corps to fight against the Titans. They were brave and loyal soldiers who had been through many hardships together. However, they were also the Armored Titan and the Colossal Titan, two of the most powerful and dangerous enemies humanity faced. They revealed their true identities in a casual and nonchalant way that caught everyone off guard. They then transformed into their Titan forms and attacked their former allies, causing massive destruction and death. This was one of the most shocking and epic moments in anime history, and it changed everything we knew about the story.
