The adventures of the Forger family come to a sudden halt as Spy x Family announces a one-month-long hiatus after Chapter 107.
Written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo, Spy x Family is a biweekly manga that appears in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump magazine. On November 26, 2024, the official X account of Shonen Jump Plus announced that the manga would go on a long break following the release of Chapter 107 and would resume serialization on December 23, 2024, with Chapter 108.
The official post read: “Chapter 108 of “SPY×FAMILY”, which was scheduled to be updated on November 25th, will be on hiatus. We apologize for the late notice. We apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the update for keeping you waiting. The next update is scheduled for Monday, December 23rd. Thank you very much for your cooperation!”
Though there hasn’t been any reason behind this hiatus announced yet, fans suspect the sudden break might be due to the health issues of the creator. Given the hectic schedules mangakas have to follow during an ongoing series, it’s not unusual for them to take such breaks every now and then.
But for now, fans can look forward to the manga returning after a month. The series is currently in the middle of the Term Break Arc and is following Anya and the other Eden Academy students spending some lighthearted moments together with their parents at the festival. But in the manga’s typical fashion, trouble is brewing somewhere.
Spy x Family is a comedy action manga that follows the latest mission of the infamous spy Twilight. In order to stop an Ostanian politician, Westalian spy Twilight infiltrates the enemy nation and poses as the psychiatrist Loid Forger. To keep up his image, he marries Yor and adopts Anya, not knowing that his new wife is secretly a dangerous assassin and his adopted daughter a mind-reading esper.
The popular manga got a well-loved anime adaptation by WIT Studio and CloverWorks in 2022, followed by a second season and a third one already announced, though its release window hasn’t been revealed yet. The franchise got its first anime movie in 2023, titled Spy x Family: Code White, which earned positive responses from critics and viewers alike.
