Officially titled Solo Leveling: Arise from the Shadow, Season 2 of Solo Leveling is all set to have it’s premier in January 2025. Its debut in 2024 was astounding and was considered one of the top rated and popular anime of 2024.
The plot which revolves around the main protagonist, Sung Jinwoo – is set to take a back seat this season. The producer of the anime – Sota Furuhashi has stated in a recent interview about the emphasis of side characters and their character depth in Season 2 than shed more screen light on Jinwoo.
He was quoted saying: “This time we’ll also turn the spotlight on the supporting characters and fill in the story a bit more as we wrap things up, so you’ll get a more 360-degree look at the world of Solo Leveling in Season 2.”

Teaser of Solo leveling S2
The teaser for Solo Leveling season 2 was released in July, much to the expectations of the fans of the anime. With rich supporting characters like Yoo Jinho, Cha Hae-in, Baek Yoon Ho and Choi Jong-in, Season 2 will be a sequel to the much awaited fan-favorite anime. Solo Leveling: Reawakening movie was released in 2024 prior to the season 2 release, making the fans anticipate what more the anime story has to offer.
The movie catches up with characters and scenes in a fast-paced thriller way, than the anime which delves deeper into the plot and character. A fast run through of what was Season 1 about and what to expect in the upcoming Season were the highlights of the movie – Solo Leveling: Reawakening. Season 2 was introduced in the movie with minor spoilers of what to look forward to and expect in the upcoming most anticipated season 2.
Trailer of Season 2: Recent updates
The premier set in January 2025, Crunchyroll released a new trailer indicating the opening theme song for Solo Leveling. Titled ‘ReawakeR’, the theme song sing by LiSA (not Blackpink’s Lisa) features Felix of Stray Kids, one of the popular K-pop bands. LiSA’s songs and works have been mostly used as theme songs for anime in Japan. Popular ones include Demon Slayer :Kimetsu No Yaiba and Dengeki Bunko.
This song feature has created anticipation amongst the fans and have also raised the expectations of the anime, due to the collaboration for the theme song. The movie covers the Red Gate arc of the manhwa – which follows right after season 1 ends, where we see Jinwoo going along with his mission with Whiter Tiger Guild.
Season 2 Solo Leveling: What to expect
Compared to the manga, the common opinion of the audience is that the anime has captured the indepth essence of the character arc and the gradual growth of Jinwoo. While Jinwoo was originally a weak player in his domain, he gained momentum and improvement after multiple challenges and battles.
From a beginner E Rank to the S Rank, Jinwoo has come a long way from being the weakest hunter to one of the strongest rankers.

The movie focussed more on Jinwoo’s character arc where we could see him try to fight himself to be as humane as possible. With growing pressure to kill human beings, Jinwoo struggles to keep himself intact by not growing number to the feeling of such inhumanity. The movie, Reawakening with a recap of season 1 and two episodes of season 2 anime promises Solo Leveling – as to be one of the best anime of recent times, with its music score and effortless animation.
Season 2 may also provide more ideas and minute details about the core system of the plot, and why such rankings and players are necessary. With increasing quests and challenges to win, Jinwoo has to struggle through getting rid of his identity and move forward to keep with the system, while questioning the same.
Multiple arcs and questions left unanswered, Solo Leveling season 2 can be expected to keep the audience on their toes by also paying attention to the original plot of the manhwa.
