According to the announcement, the company’s media division is actively working on the drama’s scriptwriting, development, and planning. They are doing everything to offer a smooth and fun-loving experience to fans.
Based on the popular web novel series of the same name by Chugong, which later received the webtoon adaptation by DUBU. Following its worldwide success, Solo Leveling Webtoon was later picked up for an anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures. The anime’s first season already aired, with much positive feedback from viewers. According to the announcement, the company’s media division is actively working on the drama’s scriptwriting, development, and planning. They also mentioned that the project attracted great attention from the industry. Unfortunately, there’s no confirmation about the staff members, title, release date, and duration. It may be revealed in the coming months.
This announcement was first hinted at by Heaeun Kwak, the Creative Director of D&C Webtoon, during an interview with the major French news website L’internaute in October 2023. He announced that the Solo Leveling Live-Action adaptation was under development.
In addition to the live-action announcement, Kakao Entertainment co-CEO Kwon Ki-soo and Jang Yoon-joong also unveiled numerous plans to capitalize on the worldwide success of Solo Leveling Season 2 — Arise from the Shadow.
With the anime placed in the top 10 on Netflix in 11 countries and ranking number at Amazon Japan, Kakao Page, and Kakao Webtoon want to take advantage of the anime success by launching the Solo Leveling Demon Castle event set to be held in February 2025. Not only did the film achieve success at the box office, but the anime also broke sales records. The anime’s second season’s first episode received a record-breaking number of likes within a day of its launch and left its installment by miles. Currently, the anime is number on Crunchyroll.
