SANDA is a mystery fantasy manga series written by Paru Itagaki. The manga wasserialized in Akita Shoten’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Champion. An anime adaptation was confirmed in 2024 after the manga ended. SANDA anime will only be released in 2025, but a new teaser has been revealed.

SANDA animated series is directed by Tomohisa Shimoyama known for Summer Wars. The official website of the Sanda anime also shared a key visual which blends faces of two different characters with a tagline “Santa, please find my friend.” Ayumu Murase who portrayed the role of Hinata in Haikyu! plays the titular role in the mystery drama series. The original manga is illustrated by Paru Itagaki of Beastars fame.
SANDA Anime – Release Date
The SANDA animated series will be released in Fall 2025. When the anime adaptation was confirmed, the makers revealed Sanda would premiere in Q4 2024. Though the official release date is not available, sources indicate SANDA anime will be available for streaming in October 2025.
SANDA – Story
The SANDA has an interesting storyline. It is all about Kazushige Sanda and the Santa Claus. SANDA takes place in Japan in future and the year is 2080. The birth rate is declining and officials implemented control policies for all minors in the country. People struggle a lot and their only savior is Santa Claus. Everyone awaits the presence of Santa Claus and it comes in the form of a high school student.
No one knows Santa Claus is trapped after a curse and some people think Santa Claus is just a myth. At the Christmas festival, Kazushige Sanda is stabbed by his classmate, Fuyumura. After a few minutes , Sanda transforms into Santa Claus. He also has the ability to become a school guy by eating jellybeans. Whenever Sanda wears a red colored outfit, he becomes a Santa Claus. Kazushige Sanda saves his friend as Santa Claus and he also appears before people and removes the evil from the world.
