One Piece Chapter 1129 saw the Straw Hats beginning their adventure on Elbaf, the fabled land of the giants. After exploring the surroundings, Luffy and others left shocked when they found themselves trapped inside a diorama-style world. They found themselves in a tough spot after being attacked by the giant animals. As expected, Luffy and others effortlessly defeated them and later ate.
While looking for the answers, a local happened to pass by and warned the Straw Hats not to enter the temple ruled by a “Sun God” and protected by several rabid guardians. After learning about the rabid guardians, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Nami do their best to avoid letting him know they ate their guardians. Before leaving on his way, the locals suggest not stepping foot inside the temple, as it may pose a danger. This only triggers Zoro and Luffy’s interest. As the group reached the “Sun God” temple, Zoro and Luffy defeated the monstrous creatures guarding the place, a giant serpent Hilmungdr and a giant raven Muginn.
The two giant animals are nothing in front of Luffy and Zoro who have already taken down more powerful foes in the past. Shortly after a local left them, the “Sun God” entered the temple. Furious by what he saw, he swore to take vengeance against Straw Hats. Notably, his entire face was hidden by the animal skull mask. This led fans to speculate on the character’s true identity.
The speculation raises many questions in the series as he was introduced under the name of Sun God Nika. Nika was a legendary figure from the past who, by sheer, seemed to well-known in Elbaf. Thankfully, One Piece Chapter 1129 of the manga series solved this mystery. According to the chapter spoilers, Elbaf’s so-called Sun God is actually Road, a former friend of Straw Hat Grand Fleed Member Hajrudin.

A Straw Hat Grand Fleet Defector Is Revealed As Elbaf’s Mysterious Sun God In One Piece Chapter 1129
The identity of the false “Sun God” revealed in Chapter 1129
One Piece Chapter 1129 is the next and will be released on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 8:30 PM IST. The upcoming chapter of One Piece will continue Straw Hats’ adventure on Elabf and shed some light on the true identity of the mysterious Sun God who has targeted them. Moreover, a fan favorite may take center stage, and that is not Usopp.
The spoilers suggested that the fake Sun God attempted to trap the Straw Hats in an iron net, but Zoro and Sanji crushed it. Remember, Luffy didn’t help them in breaking the net. It shows the development of Sanji and Zoro in the series as the right-hand and left-hand men of Straw Hats. Moreover, Nami, the weakest among all the Straw Hat members, launched an attack on the Sun God, proving she wasn’t here to stay behind.
Further, the spoilers suggested that the fake Sun God isn’t a new character but someone who has already appeared in the series. Granted, given his rather minor, and screen time, only the true One Piece fans will remember him.
As the chapter progresses, a short flashback features the installment that the fake Sun God is Road, an Elbaf-born giant. A former comrade and friend of Hajrudin and a part of New Giant Warrior Pirates, road decided to leave his crew after his captain joined the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. This decision was a shocker for his captain and the crew. However, after this incident, Road never appeared in One Piece. The fact he appeared again in the series shows his new role as a foe of Straw Hats.
On their journey to Elbaf, Straw Hat Pirates sailed through a sleeping mist area, which caused them to fall unconscious. Road took advantage of this incident and sent Muginn — the giant Crow Zoro defeated in Chapter 1128. He sends his crow to capture their ship and is brought to the place where he puts them in the giant room surrounded by mirror-like walls, keeping them trapped as a pet until they free themselves.
According to spoilers, Road will pay for his actions. Further, the leaks suggested that Chapter 1129 concluded with Nami striking Road with a thunderbolt launched by Zeus, while Luffy used his gear four to smack him to the wall.
Road, The Fake Sun God Of Elbaf
To date, not much is known about Road’s character. He was born in Elbaf 63 years before the narration of One Piece. It must be noted that his birth took place on a special day, he was born at the same time as the Prince of Elbaf, Loki.
Over time, Road befriended many giants of his generation, including Hajrundin. Twenty-two years before the present narration of One Piece, Road and others traveled to Ohara, where they did something vital to preserve the precious of the island scholars.
Under the leadership of Jaguar D. Soul, they managed to bring back the precious research paper from Ohara to Elab. Without Road, Hajurdin, and the other giants, the true history of Ohara scholars uncovered and the World Government tried to hide would have been concealed forever.
Aiming to become like their idols, Dorry and Brogy, Hajrundi gathered his childhood friends and created the New Giant Warrior Pirates. Road joined as the navigator. Eventually, they ended up becoming part of Bugg’s delivery, an organization that specializes in sending mercenaries to those who paid for the services.
After befriending the Straw Hat Pirates — especially Usopp — during the Dressrosa Arc, Hajrundi decided to pledge his loyalty to Monkey D. Luffy. Therefore, the New Giant Warrior Pirates leave Buggy organization and join Straw Hat Grand Fleet. As the spoilers of Chapter 1129 suggested, Road strongly disagreed with Hajrundi’s choice.
Disappointed by his captain, Road left the crew and took on the new identity of Sun God of Elbaf. Interestingly, it is said that One Piece author Eiichiro Oda already hinted at this development.
