Bocchi the Rock! Congratulations on the announcement of the second season!
This time, we are handing over the reins of director to Yamamoto Yusuke, but since the anime ended, many people have been expressing their hopes for a second season, and I know that many people have been working towards making the second season of the anime a reality, so I am very happy to have been able to make this announcement in front of everyone. I trust that Yamamoto will be able to create an anime that is funny, cute, and passionate, so I am really looking forward to it!
Bocchi the Rock! The fun is still to come! Thank you
~ Keiichiro Saito (Director of Season 1)
Season 2 will see some changes in the directorial team, while maintaining the core creative vision. Yusuke Yamamoto, who served as assistant director in Season 1 and is known for storyboarding and directing episodes 3 and 11, as well as directing the opening of OSHI NO KO, will be taking over the main director’s seat from Keiichiro Saito. Keito Oda joins the team as co-character designer alongside Kerorira, who returns from the first season. Kerorira’s previous work includes visual direction for Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club The Movie – Finale – Chapter 1. Erika Yoshida (Tower of God) will continue to pen the screenplay, and the animation will once again be handled by the acclaimed studio CloverWorks.
It may be too early to make an announcement here, but we decided to make the announcement today because we want to reach out to as many fans as possible.
We are happy to be able to enjoy cable tie bands again!

Bocchi the Rock: Season 1 Recap
For those just joining the Bocchi the Rock! fandom, Season 1 laid the groundwork for Bocchi’s musical journey and introduced the core characters. The first season begins with Hitori “Bocchi-chan” Goto, a high school girl with crippling social anxiety, dreaming of rock stardom but lacking the confidence to perform in front of others. Her world starts to change when she encounters Nijika Ijichi, the energetic drummer of the fledgling band Kessoku Band (then known as “Yuuzou Band”).
Nijika, in need of a guitarist after their previous one quit, recruits Bocchi despite her awkwardness. Bocchi hesitantly agrees, and is thrust into the world of live performances at the Starry club, run by Nijika’s older sister. Season 1 follows Bocchi’s hilarious and often painful attempts to overcome her social anxieties and integrate into the band. She meets the cool and collected bassist Ryo Yamada, and the outgoing and charismatic vocalist Ikuyo Kita, completing the Kessoku Band lineup.

Throughout the season, viewers witness Bocchi’s slow but steady growth, both as a guitarist and as a person. From hiding in cardboard boxes on stage to gradually gaining confidence in her playing, Bocchi’s journey is both relatable and inspiring. The season highlights the band’s early performances, their struggles to gain recognition, and the development of their unique sound. It also delves into the individual personalities of each band member, showcasing their quirks and strengths, and the budding friendships that form between them. Season 1 culminates with Kessoku Band navigating various gigs and solidifying their bond, leaving audiences eager to see what musical and personal challenges await them in Season 2.
With the announcement, teaser, and production team details now revealed, the excitement for Bocchi the Rock! Season 2 is reaching fever pitch. Fans worldwide eagerly await more news and are ready to cheer on Bocchi and Kessoku Band as they take the stage once again.
