Blue Box is increasingly getting more fans’ love than before. With each passing episode, the story of this high schooler gets intense and more focused. In the recent episode of the teen romance drama, Taiki and Kano are pacing towards the nationals in their respective games. As Taiki has two matches to reach the finals, Kano’s affection for Taiki is slowly giving fans a chance to see how their goals align with their slow romance. The recent episode brought a certain change in the tale.
Taiki Loses Both Matches but Keeps a Happy Face—Does Kano Realize His Inner Struggle? Blue Box Episode 8 Recap
In episode 8, we see that both Kano and Taiki are exercising in the morning. Kano is a bit nervous about her semi-final match, but Taiki relaxes her by talking to her and making her forget about her game. The next day, both reach their respective games. Taiki and Haryuu are in the stands watching the game. They are about to face the players of another high schooler. Their star player Hyoudou and his partner are the strongest. Haryuu lost finals previously to Hyoudou and now is ready to take him down.
They see the match of their opponents and are taking down some notes. Taiki is excited to know this game. Taiki later runs to the loo and finds a guy sleeping on the chair. This guy is Yusa, who also plays badminton and will face Taiki in the singles match. During the doubles match, two nearly won the game, but with a slight margin, they lost the doubles. Taiki feels a bit let down but has to buck up for the next game.

At home, Kano sees Taiki exhausted by his game, and she learns that he has lost the doubles. She cheers him up by wishing him good luck. The next day he is all pumped up and loses his second game to Yusa. He loses quickly by 2-0 and fails to get into the nationals. Hina comes to see him and learns that Taiki lost both his matches. She brings something to eat and drink for him. They have a chat, and Taiki puts up a happy face and promises to win next time.
Returning home, he learns that Kano won the finals and will be competing in the nationals. He is happy for her, but deep down he feels defeated by Kano. Her wishes for him to win the matches and compete seem to have become distant, and he has let her down. As the episode concludes, Taiki is lost and feels defeated to have not lived up to Kano’s expectations.
The episode brings a new light to the series. The sports world is quite feisty, yet it has both wins and defeats. In a matter of minutes, the rest screams at our faces, making and breaking us. The next episode might showcase that Taiki now has to wait for a year to again compete in the finals, whereas Kano is more stressed about making it to the nationals.
