On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the Netflix One Piece Live Action official X handle (formerly known as Twitter) shared the behind-the-scenes tour hosted by Jeff Ward, who plays Buggy the Clown in the live-action adaptation. The behind-the-scenes tour featured everything from the costume designers to the set.
The video was released as a part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, which is where all the major announcements and reveals from the platform’s most original series are.
One Piece Live Action Season 2 is the next in the series and will likely cover 60 chapters from the manga. The series will feature Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island arcs. We will get the new crew mate in one of the arcs.
‘One Piece Live Action’ Behind-The-Scenes Video Teases New Costumes And More For Season 2
The behind-the-scenes video released by Netflix featured Jeff War taking the fans on a tour of costumes, sets, and more for season 2. While taking on a tour, Jeff introduces costume designer Kerry Barnard, revealing that the costumes are at least for one thousand people in the warehouse of season 2. Many costumes are blurred out due to being part of the second season.
Later, creator and showrunner Matt Ownes appears, discussing how people will be excited to see all the brand-new looks. Then hair designer and make-up artist Amanda Ross McDonald is introduced, where more of the materials are blurred out, with Matt calling out some of them are spoilers. Later, props master Egbert Kruger appears in the video, where the props, such as Usopp’s sniper goggles and Gum-Gum Fruit, can be seen. Kruger says all the props are handmade and are based on drawings from the original manga creator, Eiichiro Oda himself.
Tom Hannam and Gotlieb, the production designers, are then introduced at the Ipponmatsu Arms Shop, where Zoro gets his new sword previewed. The Twin Light House from the Reverse Mountain Arc is also featured, as well as the discussion about the challenges of filming the snowy Drum Kingdom Arc in sunny South Africa.
The behind-the-scenes tour video ended shortly with Jeff saying the year of releasing the second season, but it hilariously beeped as pleads with others not to yell at him. While the video is not as informative as the fans expected, it is nevertheless exciting and suggests that the second season will soon arrive. It also provides an opportunity for significant staff members to shine, whose names and efforts might otherwise go unrecognized by the fans.
