Story Synopsis (via Crunchyroll)

The narrative centers on Momo, a high school student from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult enthusiast. Their friendship begins when Momo defends Okarun from bullies, but they clash over their beliefs—Momo accepts ghosts but rejects aliens, while Okarun believes in aliens but dismisses ghosts. To settle their dispute, Momo investigates a UFO-sighted abandoned hospital while Okarun explores a reportedly haunted tunnel. Both encounter extraordinary paranormal phenomena that awaken hidden powers within them, launching their occult adventures and budding romance.

The theatrical presentation “DAN DA DAN: First Encounter,” showcasing the first three episodes, generated approximately $1,005,531 during its limited U.S. screening in September.
