The exciting news for otaku is that Lewis Carroll’s beloved novel, Alice in Wonderland, is set to be adapted into a Japanese anime and is promised to be released this year. This was Lewis’s first novel that received an anime adaption of the classic tale titled Alice in Wonderland -Dive in Wonderland-.
The anime was officially announced a few days back on “X” (Formerly known as Twitter) and is set worldwide premiere on August 29, 2025. The project will be led by Toshiya Shinohara, a well-known director, with the scriptwriter by the renowned writer Yuko Kakihara, P. A Works will handle the animation and bring the classic tale into the big screens.
According to @SugoiLITE on “X” (Formerly known as Twitter), the synopsis of the film follows that the main character is a girl named Rise, and she meets Alice when wandering in Wonderland. In addition to the film synopsis, the cast has been announced: Maika Pugh will voice Alice, while Nanoka Hara will voice Rise.

Alice In Wonderland’s First Anime Movie Announced
On Friday, January 18, 2025, the animation studio P.A. Works officially announced the first anime film of Lewis Carroll’s beloved children’s novel Alice In Wonderland (also known as Alice’s Adventure In Wonderland). The film will be released on August 29, 2025, titled Alice In Wonderland-Dive in Wonderland- (Fushigi no Kuni de Alice to -Dive in Wonderland).
With the novel’s anime adaptation announcement, Toshiya Shinohara and Yuko Kakihara are embracing the reimagining of a story that has already been captivated for generations. On Thursday, January 17, 2027, the official YouTube channel shared the teaser-tailer of Alice In Wonderland-The Dive In Wonderland-. The teaser trailer featured the key visuals of Lewis Carroll’s beloved novel anime adaptation film. Along with the character design of Rise, the main character, and Alice, Rise meets her while wandering in Wonderland. The narrator of the trailer is unknown but reveals the key staff members like VA and others. The film promises to be released this year and was produced by TBS Holdings and Shochiku.
