Is Grap Dead In One Piece Or Alive? Explained

Luffy’s Grandfather, Monkey D. Grap, is easily one of the legendary One Piece characters, alongside Roger, Whitebeard, Kaido, Rocks, and others. He is one of the few characters from the old generation still active, while his fellow Marines Sengoku was retired.

After learning Koby was taken hostage by Blackbeard Pirates, Grap decided to go to Hachinosua and save his student. He gathered some Marines, took some SWORD members, and attacked the Island. After arriving on the Island, Grap launched his attack called ‘Galaxy Impact,’ which destroyed the entire Island, showing a glimpse of his power as a Vice Admiral.

In the older generation, Grap was one of the few Marines who could fight Roger head-to-toe. The two fight several times, and each time, they are almost near to killing each other. This was enough to showcase his power. Even now, at 76, Grap can take on any Yonko. During his entry into Hachinosu Island, Grap destroyed it with a single attack. Garp vs Blackbeard Pirates On Hachinosu Island

Before learning Grap’s current status in One Piece, you should know about the events leading up to this tragedy. It all started when Koby offered his life for eight hundred Marines and a Battleship, which their leader Teach (better known as the Blackbeard) demanded. This was a bold move, considering Koby put his life on the line to save others. After learning about Koby’s status, Helmeppo went to the office, asking their help to save him. Due to being part of SWORD, everyone denied help, which forced Helmeppo to ask Grap’s help.

After learning about Koby, Grap went straight, gathered Marines, and sailed to Hachinosua. After arriving at the Island, Grap launched his attack Galaxy Impact, causing a stir among the Blackbeard Pirates. To save Koby from Blackbeard Pirates, Grap was stopped by Kuzan, the former student and Vice Admiral. The two exchanged some words and then launched an attack on each other.
At first, Grap had an advantage in the fight, but later, Shiryu attacked him from a blind spot, resulting in him getting injured. Even after the injuries, Grap attacked Pizarro with the Galaxy Impact, providing an opening for Marines to escape from the Island. This move helped Koby to show his devastating attack on Honesty Impact.

As the story progresses, Koby and his companions successfully escape. However, At the end of the episode, fans see the defeated Marine Hero lying on the ground, speared by Kuzan’s ice stick. He was laughing since Grap saved Koby and the other Marine. However, seeing his former master injured, Kuzan used his ability to freeze his body completely. This also demonstrated that the Marine Hero may lost the battle, but yet not dead.

After receiving a lethal blow from Shiryu, Grap managed to smack to Second Titanic of Blackbeard to the ground in that disadvantaged situation. And right when Grap thought things were over and he could escape with his fellow Marines, his former student showed up to fight with him. It is one of the most-talked-about moments since Marine Hero had to fight with his former cum pirate Kuzan one-on-one. The two exchange blows, making Grap lose control and drop to the ground. At this moment, fans speculated that Grap’s time up and the death were immediate.

In Episode 1122 of One Piece, everyone thought that Grapes was dead for sure since he was injured heavily by the Kuzan and Shiryu. The injuries received by Marine Hero make them more dangerous for him after knowing his age. Even at the age of seventy-six, Monkey D Grap gave the tough fight to the pirates.

Grap accomplished his goal of rescuing Koby from the Blackbeard pirates and protecting the Marines since he believed they would be the future.
