In May this year, Lillis was diagnosed with breast cancer and died this Saturday. Her co-star Veronica Taylor (the voice of Ash Ketchup in the Pokémon animated series) shared the news with the world.
She posted on social media praising Lillis for her extraordinary talent.
Rachael was an extraordinary talent, a bright light that shone through her voice, whether speaking or singing. She will be forever remembered for the many animated roles she played, with her iconic performances as Misty and Jessie in Pokemon being the most beloved.
Lillis’ sister, Laurie Orr, announced the passing of a GoFundMe page set up to cover some of Lillis’ medical expenses and had raised $98,000. A statement given by Orr:
She passed peacefully on Saturday night without pain, and for that we are grateful.

Funds would go toward paying the remaining medical bills, arranging a memorial service, and supporting cancer research.
